8/16 Valezan to Landry

An easy simple walk to Landry, we arose late and had breakfast at 8am. Then dawdled, blogging etc, leaving at 10. We followed the GR in a leisurely way stopping to photograph every little thing. And there were many interesting old homes and sheds descending the path. Reaching Bellentre, we went into the post office to send home the 3 topoguides I'd purchased in Chamonix and had extracted all the needed info onto my phone. The little Poste didn't have the needed forms tu send to the US. So with an ice cream in hand we hustled down the GR to the river then followed the bike path to Landry and checked into the hotel by 12:30. A quick cleanup and we went to the station and took the train to Bourg St Maurice - 10 minutes away. Here there was a larger Poste where we send the books home. I had been to this town 12 years ago and had bought an artisanal sweater from a shop Arpin which was in business since 1822 - it had olden wooden machinery dating to the industrial revolution still to be seen. We took a taxi to it but alas they no longer make these sweaters - a disappointment - so back to town. We ate ice cream, bought fruit and drink. As well as a soft camera case for Tammy before catching a bus back to Landry and our hotel. It was hot again, and we rested drinking our fluids then dined at the hotel . Tammy had a selection of regional sausages while I had my favorite - Tartiflette. It comes in a small casserole dish with scalloped potatoes, cream , ham bits and topped with cheese. Perfect hiking chow!
